Dental reimplantation

Replacing a tooth torn from its socket in an injury to the mouth. If the tooth is properly preserved until a dentist can be seen, the tooth can often be saved by being reimplanted into the gum by the dentist. It is recommended that the tooth be kept in milk. If milk is not available, it may be placed in cool water or wrapped in a clean wet cloth.

Repositioning a tooth into its socket following an accident, facilitating its potential reattachment to supportive tissues. The front teeth are the ones most frequently subjected to reimplantation.

The tooth should be reinserted shortly after the accident and then stabilized using a splint during the healing process. Maintaining the tooth’s sterility and moisture, possibly with saliva or milk, enhances the likelihood of a successful outcome. The healing process might span several weeks.
