Delayed walking

When a child has not developed the ability to walk within the normal age range. Although each child has his or her own rate of development, babies normally become able to bear some weight on their legs by 7 months. The inability to walk by the age of 18 months is generally considered delayed motor or movement development, and a complete medical and developmental evaluation is necessary to determine the cause. Affected children are usually referred to a pediatrician who specializes in developmental problems.

Typically, most children begin walking at approximately 15 months old. If a child has not achieved independent walking by the age of 18 months, it may raise concerns about potential delays in their walking development.
