Delayed dentition, also known as late eruption of teeth, refers to the delayed appearance of teeth in the oral cavity. The term “delayed dentition” can encompass two different scenarios: the eruption of the first deciduous teeth occurring after the completion of the 13th month of life, or the eruption of the first permanent teeth taking place after the seventh year of life. Delayed dentition is often observed in various conditions that hinder overall growth, such as hypothyroidism.
