Degos syndrome

A rare disorder known to impact the linings of small and medium-sized arteries throughout the body, primarily in the skin, intestine, and nervous system, resulting in blockage of these blood vessels. The exact cause of this condition remains unknown.

The disease commonly manifests as multiple small skin lesions, initially appearing as red, raised spots, which eventually transform into depressed, white scars. These lesions may subsequently develop in arteries that supply various parts of the body, including the intestine and the nervous system. This progression can give rise to severe, and potentially life-threatening, complications such as stroke resulting from lesions in the brain, or perforation of the intestine due to lesions penetrating the intestinal wall.
