Creatine phosphokinase (CPK, CK)

Enzyme that catalyses the conversion of creatine and consumes adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to create phosphocreatine and adenosine diphosphate (ADP).

Enzyme in skeletal muscle, in cardiac muscle, and in brain tissue that catalyzes the transfer of high-energy phosphate from phosphocreatine to ADP to make ATP.

An enzyme present in the heart and skeletal muscles. Blood levels are elevated following a heart attack and in patients with muscular dystrophy and other muscle conditions.
