Device for the separation of the phases of a diphasic salmonella culture, by passing through sloppy agar containing H phase 1 or phase II salmonella-agglutinating antiserum. Only motile salmonella in the alternative phase to the serum used reach the top levels of the agar surrounding the inoculation tube, organisms of like phase to the serum being agglutinated and rendered non-motile en route.
