Coxiella

Genus which, with the true rickettsia, make up the tribe of the Rickettsieae. Coxiella differ from rickettsia in that they are filterable, and do not stimulate the production of Weil – Felix agglutinins.

A genus of rickettsia like microorganisms that cause disease in animals and man. They are smaller than rickettsiae, are transmitted by air-borne droplets or dust rather than by insects, and they produce diseases characterized by inflammation of the lungs, without a rash (compare typhus). The species C. burnettii causes Q fever.

A genus of bacteria of the order Rickettsiales.
