Corpuscle

The red or white cells of the blood.

A small round mass.

A cell in blood or lymph.

Any small body, especially a red blood cell (erythrocyte) or a white blood cell (leukocyte).

Most often refers to two types of blood cells. Red blood corpuscles, or erythrocytes, are iron-rich cells that transport oxygen through the bloodstream. White blood corpuscles, or leukocytes, have key roles in defending the body against invasion by viruses, bacteria, and fungi.

In the realm of biology, the term “microscopic entity” refers to exceedingly small units or cells, notably including red and white blood cells, as well as specific varieties of nerve endings.
