Activities and programs intended to improve the healthfulness of, and general health status in, a specified community. The term is widely used with may different definitions, and thus must be used with caution. It is variously defined, as above, in a manner similar to public health, synonymously with environmental health, as all health services of any kind available to a given community, or even synonymously with a community’s ambulatory care.
