This term has been adopted as the service mark for Community Care Networks, Inc. and San Diego Community Healthcare Alliance, which reserve all rights to its use. The term is also used (with the service mark indicated) by the American Hospital Association for the kind of community health care organization which it promotes. The service mark must be employed because of its reservation by the California organizations. The network would consist of local groups of physicians and clinics, organized by hospitals, competing for contracts with group insurers to provide care to enrolled individuals. The payment schedule would be established by an independent regulatory board, and providers would normally be reimbursed on a capitated basis.
