Coagulation time

The time required for a sample of blood to clot under standard controlled conditions.

The time taken for blood or blood plasma to coagulate. When measured under controlled conditions and using appropriate techniques, coagulation times may be used to test the function of the various stages of the blood coagulation process.

The time required for a small amount of blood to clot. This can be determined by collecting blood in a small test tube and noting elapsed time from the moment blood is shed to the time it coagulates.
