A type of medical practice in which the physician limits the patients he will care for to those who are members of a prepayment group. A closed panel practice is usually associated with HMOs or similar group practices in which patients agree to pay a fixed monthly or annual fee to the doctors, who in turn provide a wide range of medical care services for the patients included in the panel.
