Harmless, small, bright red, domelike spots on the skin caused by dilated blood vessels. Also known as De Morgan spots. Cherry angiomas develop mostly on the torsos of older people but can be found anywhere on the body. They can be removed by a dermatologist.
A benign, dome-shaped cherry-red papule on the trunk, especially in persons over age 30, measuring about 0.5 mm to 6.0 mm. It consists of a compressible mass of blood vessels.
Another term used to describe a Campbell de Morgan’s spot, which is a small, vivid red, benign spot found on the trunk or limbs, is an alternate name.
