Central nervous system

Part of the vertebrate nervous system comprising the brain and spinal cord.

The main information-processing organs of the nervous system, consisting of the brain, spinal cord, and meninges.

The part of the nervous system consisting of the brain and the spinal cord.

A collective term for the brain, spinal cord, their nerves, and the sensory end organs. More broadly, this can even include the neurotransmitting hormones instigated by the CNS that control the chemical nervous system, the endocrine glands.

Central Nervous System comprises the brain and spinal cord in vertebrates and is responsible for controlling the activity of the mind and body; it does not include the peripheral nerves.

The brain and the spinal cord comprise the central nervous system (CNS), which receives sensory information from organs in the body, analyzes the information, and produces an appropriate response.

The brain and spinal cord which link together all the nerves.

The central nervous system includes the brain and spinal cord in vertebrate animals.

One of the two main divisions of the human nervous system (the Other being the peripheral nervous system), consisting of the brain and the spinal cord. The main coordinating and controlling center of the body, the central nervous system processes information to and from the peripheral nervous system. The system is made up of gray matter (mostly nerve cells and associated parts) and white matter (mostly nerve fibers and contains protective cerebrospinal fluid).

The brain and the spinal cord, which together monitor and control all the body’s functions, responses, and behaviors, both conscious and unconscious. The central nervous system (CNS) works together with the peripheral nervous system, composed of the nerves emanating out from the CNS to all parts of the body.

This comprises the nervous tissue of the brain and spinal cord, but does not include the cranial and spinal nerves and the autonomic nervous system. These latter groups make up the peripheral nervous system.

Consists of the brain, spinal cord, spinal nerves, and cranial nerves.

The part of the nervous system that includes the brain, optic nerves, and spinal cord.

The central nervous system (CNS), an anatomical term encompassing the brain and spinal cord, is a vital component of the human body. Comprised of neurons, or nerve cells, along with supporting tissue, the CNS collaborates with the peripheral nervous system (PNS). The PNS facilitates the transmission of signals between the CNS and the remaining parts of the body, establishing an intricate communication network within the human system.

The central nervous system (CNS) serves as the recipient of sensory information originating from organs like the eyes and ears, as well as sensory receptors distributed throughout the body. It diligently processes and analyzes this sensory input, subsequently initiating a suitable motor response within the body. This motor response may entail actions such as muscle contractions, enabling the execution of appropriate physical movements in response to the received sensory stimuli.
