Luteal phase defect
A deficiency in either the amount or the duration of postovulatory progesterone secretion by the corpus luteum. Insufficient hormonal stimulation results in inadequate preparation of the endometrium for successful implantation and support of the growing embryo. This rare condition is associated with infertility or habitual spontaneous first-trimester abortion.
