  • Infrared lamp

    A lamp that develops a high temperature, emitting infrared rays; a heat lamp. The rays penetrate only a short distance (5 to 10 mm) into the skin. Its principal effect is to cause heating of the skin.

    Part of the articulation of the pubic bones, connecting the opposing surfaces of these bones.

    Labor completed by mechanical means, such as the use of forceps. The baby is delivered using midwifery forceps.

  • Interstitial keratitis

    A deep form of non-suppurative keratitis with vascularization, occurring usually in syphilis and rarely in tuberculosis. It commonly occurs between ages 5 and 15. Symptoms include pain, photophobia, lacrimation, and loss of vision. Inflammation affecting the layers that make up the cornea, or interstitial pregnancy.
