Hyperthermia treatment
The use of microwave or radiofrequency energy to increase body temperature. This type of therapy, which is usually combined with chemotherapy or radiation, has been used in treating some malignancies and infectious diseases.

An increase in the resting potential of a cell membrane (e.g., a cell membrane of a neuron), causing the inside of the cell to become more negative. This change raises the threshold level for depolarization, thus making the cell relatively less sensitive to stimuli.
