  • Copal

  • Convolute

    Convolute

    In flower bud aestivation meaning rolled in the length and overlapping, each segment enveloping the next, like a closed umbrella. Rolled up lengthwise, one edge over the other. Of a flower bud when petals are rolled in along their length and overlap, each segment enveloping the next.  

  • Convex

    With a rounded surface, like the outside of a bowl. Regularly rounded; broadly obtuse. Said of a cap of mushrooms. Curving towards the outside.  

  • Contrary

    In the opposite direction.  

  • Contraligule

    Membranous, ligule-like structure in Cyperaceae at the apex of the leaf-sheath on the side of the culm facing away from the leaf-blade.

    Root that can shorten so as to keep the bulb, corm or rhizome at a particular level.

    (Of inflorescences) when narrow and dense. Either narrowed or shortened.

    Of sepals or petals in the bud when each overlaps its neighbour on one side, and is overlapped by its neighbour on the other side. Twisted together. Of a flower bud when each petal overlaps its neighbour on one side and is overlapped by its neighbour on the other side.

    Without an interruption; Adjacent and touching.
