Carpopedal spasm

Spasm of the hand or foot, or of the thumbs and great toes.

A spastic condition of the hands and feet.

A spasm in the hands and feet caused by lack of calcium.

Involuntary muscular contraction of the hands and feet, sometimes seen in hyperventilation syndrome. It is caused by hypocalcemia and commonly encountered during hyperventilation because the lowered carbon dioxide alters the level of ionized calcium.

Involuntary muscle contractions that occur in the hands and feet are known as carpopedal spasms. These spasms are often associated with low levels of calcium in the blood. Hyperventilation, characterized by abnormally rapid breathing, or conditions like hypoparathyroidism can contribute to the development of low blood calcium levels, leading to carpopedal spasms.

Involuntary jerking motions of the hands and feet caused by a deficiency of calcium resulting from a blood disorder.

Muscle contractions in the hands and feet linked to tetany.
