Calf pain

Various disorders can give rise to calf pain. Common causes include muscle cramp, muscle strain, and sciatica (inflammation of the sciatic nerve). In rarer cases, calf muscle pain may stem from blood clots in the leg veins. This condition poses a particular risk for individuals who have been immobile for extended periods, such as after surgery or during long air travel. Another potential issue is claudication, characterized by cramping pain typically caused by the narrowing of arteries. In this particular condition, pain often arises during walking and subsides with rest.
