Breakfast cereals

Nowadays, a vast array of breakfast cereals is available for consumers to choose from. These products have been developed over time, incorporating insights gained from dietary research conducted during the 19th century. Cornflakes, for instance, were originally created in Michigan as a dietetic food. They became so popular that commercial production began in 1895. In Switzerland, around the same period, Dr. Bircher-Benner concocted a cereal mixture comprising nuts and fruits for his patients at the Zurich Clinic. This cereal was named “Muesli,” and granola is one of the many variations of this cereal.
