Bones of the skull

The bones of the skull are categorized into two main groups: cranial bones and facial bones. The cranial bones include the occipital bone at the rear, two parietal bones that mainly form the sides, the frontal bone for the front and forehead, the temporal bones which make up the temple areas and contain the ear canal, and the sphenoid and ethmoid bones that create the skull’s base. On the other hand, the facial bones comprise the maxilla, which constitutes a significant part of the face and holds the upper teeth; the mandible, supporting the lower teeth; and the zygomatic bones.
