A bone swelling can manifest as either cancerous or noncancerous. Among the noncancerous bone tumors, osteochondroma is the most prevalent type. Other noncancerous bone tumors include osteoma and chondroma. Typically, treatment is only necessary if the tumor grows large or causes symptoms by exerting pressure on surrounding structures. In such instances, surgical removal of the tumor can be performed. Osteoclastoma, also known as a giant cell tumor, commonly affects the arm or leg of a young adult. It is characterized by tenderness and pain, necessitating its removal through surgical intervention.
