Blue bloater

A person with chronic bronchitis who demonstrates evidence of cyanosis and pedal edema.

The term “outdated” was previously used to describe an individual exhibiting bluish lips and tongue, as well as edema (fluid accumulation in the tissues). This condition is now understood to be a consequence of prolonged lung damage, which ultimately results in heart failure. Rather than using the outdated term, it is more accurate to recognize the underlying cause as chronic lung damage leading to compromised heart function. This understanding allows for a clearer comprehension of the condition and facilitates appropriate management and treatment strategies for individuals experiencing this form of heart failure.
