Berry aneurysm

A small saccular congenital aneurysm of a cerebral vessel. It communicates with the vessel by a small opening. Rupture of this type of aneurysm may cause subarachnoid hemorrhage, a devastating form of stroke.

Encounter an anomalous swelling that develops at the point where arteries supplying the brain intersect. These swellings, known as berry aneurysms, typically arise from a congenital weakness present in the artery wall from birth. Although often asymptomatic, there is a risk of rupture, leading to a condition called subarachnoid hemorrhage. When rupture occurs, bleeding transpires into the space surrounding the brain, which can be a serious medical emergency. Prompt recognition and appropriate intervention are crucial to minimize the potential complications associated with berry aneurysms and subarachnoid hemorrhage.
