An anticholinergic medication used to treat muscle stiffness and other motor side effects either from parkinson’s disease or as a result of treatment with conventional antipsychotic medications such as haloperidol (Haldol). Marketed under the brand name cogentin.

A drug similar to atropine, but that also acts as an antihistamine, local anesthetic, and sedative. Given by mouth, it is used mainly in the treatment of parkinsonism to reduce rigidity and muscle cramps. It is well tolerated, but produces drowsiness and confusion.
