Benign mucosal pemphigoid is a rare disorder that affects the mucous membranes lining various body cavities, particularly the mouth and the eyelids (conjunctiva). Gums may be selectively affected with the appearance of gingivitis. There are multiple subtypes of benign mucosal pemphigoid disorder based on the location of the blisters as well as on the severity; some forms are chronic, whereas others remit and recur.
