Bee Pollen

The fertilizing element of flowering plants that consists of dustlike, yellowish grains or spores.

Bee pollen has been marketed as a dietary supplement and used by athletes for many years. While bee pollen contains many essential nutrients (such as protein, vitamins, and minerals), its ability to improve athletic performance is unlikely in a well-nourished athlete. Well-designed studies have failed to provide any evidence that bee pollen can pro¬ mote enhanced physical performance. Furthermore, there is some risk of an allergic reaction to its consumption.

A combination of pollens and nectar collected by bees and mixed with bee saliva. Bee pollen is a natural substance thought by some people to enhance the performance of an athlete or to cure hay fever. Bee pollen has been studied as a promising alternative medical treatment, but there is insufficient evidence to back up these claims. Bee pollen can trigger serious allergic reactions in some people, so it should be used with care.
