Babinski sign

Extension of the great toe and abduction of the other toes when the plantar surface of the foot is stimulated; indicative of pyramidal tract involvement.

The upward bending of the big toe when the outer edge of the foot’s sole is scratched refers to a reflex movement known as Babinski’s sign. While this reflex is considered normal in infants, its presence in adults serves as an indication of potential brain or spinal cord damage or disease.
