  • Anamnestic reaction

    The rapid reappearance in the blood of antibodies to an antigen after re-exposure to the antigen. Anamnesia is a cell-mediated phenomenon caused by the presence of antigen-specific memory B lymphocytes.  

  • Pulse height analyzer

    A circuit that differentiates between pulses of varying sizes. It is used in scintillation, blood cell, and particle counters.  

  • Parallel analyzer

    A discrete automated chemical analyzer that performs a single test on a group of samples at practically the same time (within milliseconds of one another).  

  • Discrete analyzer

    An automated chemical analyzer in which the instrument performs tests on samples that are kept in “discrete containers,” in contrast to a continuous flow analyzer.  

  • Continuous flow analyzer

    An automated chemical analyzer in which the samples and reagents are pumped continuously through a system of modules interconnected by tubing.  

  • Batch analyzer

    An automated chemical analyzer in which the instrument system sequentially performs a single test on each of a group of samples.  

  • Automated analyzer

    A chemical instrument designed to perform assays with a minimum of human intervention.  

  • Analyze

    To separate into parts; to examine methodically.  

  • Analytical reading

    Thinking carefully, critically, and deeply while reading. The act of making sense of an author’s writing by comparing and contrasting it with one’s experiences, feelings, thoughts, and previously gained knowledge.  

  • Analysis of occupational performance

    That part of the occupational therapy evaluation that determines a person’s ability to carry out activities of daily living.
