Apothem
The brown precipitate that appears when vegetable decoctions or infusions are exposed to the air or are boiled a long time.

Apothecaries weights and measures
An outdated and obsolete system of weights and measures formerly used by physicians and pharmacists; based on 480 grains to 1 oz and 12 oz to 1 lb. It has been replaced by the metric system.

A form of paraphilia characterized by the individual requesting amputation of an extremity for erotic reasons.

Aporepressor
A protein, the synthesis of which is directed by a regulator gene, that functions only when bound with specific low-molecular-weight compounds called corepressors.

Pituitary apoplexy
Hemorrhage into or necrosis of the pituitary gland. The symptoms are sudden headache, vision loss, and circulatory collapse. Treatment usually includes prompt administration of adrenal steroids. Sometimes neurosurgery is attempted to prevent permanent blindness.

Basilar process of the occipital bone.
