  • Event recorder

    A portable heart rhythm monitor worn by a patient who suffers intermittent palpitations or loss of consciousness of unclear cause.     An autoimmune disease characterized by thrombocytopenia and hemolytic anemia.   • Evans blue

    A diazo dye occurring as a blue-green powder, very soluble in water. It is used intravenously as a diagnostic agent.  

  • Work capacity evaluation

    A comprehensive assessment of functional status based on simulated physical demands of a job. Typically, a comprehensive work capacity evaluation includes timed, performance-based demonstrations of standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, carrying, balance, flexibility, dexterity, hand strength, and coordination.  

  • Air evacuation

    Transport of patients from one location to another by specially equipped helicopters or other aircraft. Indications for air transport include severe trauma, burns, and other conditions requiring immediate skilled care and treatment.  

  • Euvolemic

    Having appropriate hydration (neither excessively, hydrated nor dehydrated).  

  • Eutomer

    An isomer that causes beneficial effects when it is administered.  

  • Euthyroid sick syndrome

    Any derangement in thyroid hormone blood levels in patients affected by another (usually critical) illness. The altered levels of thyroid hormones are not caused by primary thyroid dysfunction; they return to normal when the underlying illness is successfully treated.
