  • Fixed-dose combination

    Combining two or more drugs in one capsule or tablet, in order to simplify drug regimens and improve compliance.

    The use of internal wires, screws, or pins applied directly to fractured bone segments to keep them in place. A surgical method used to treat broken bones by placing metal plates, pins, rods, or wires to secure the fractured ends.   • Field of fixation

    The widest limits of vision in all directions within which the eyes can fixate.  

  • Fixation of eyes

    Movement of the eyes so that the visual axes meet and the image of an object falls on corresponding points of each retina. This provides the most acute visualization of the object.  

  • Fix

    To treat tissues chemically so that the components and products of the cells are preserved for staining and microscopic examination.  

  • Fistuloenterostomy

    A surgical connection of a fistula into the intestine (e.g., biliary fistula).  

  • Fistulization

    The process of becoming fistulous by extension of an inflammatory process from one tissue organ to another.  

  • Fistulatome

    An instrument for incising a fistula.  

  • Vesicouterine fistula

    An abnormal connection between the urinary bladder and the uterus.  

  • Umbilical fistula

    An abnormal congenital passageway between the umbilicus and the gut. It is usually due to non-closure of the urachal duct.
