  • Medical care plan

    The goals and objectives of the physician’s care and the treatment instituted to accomplish plane them.  

  • Individualized family service plan

    A written document, developed collaboratively by parents of young children with disabilities and related service personnel, that describes plans for intervention and educational placement. Twenty-five percent of occupational therapists now practice in school settings with the purpose of meeting the legislated mandate for public schools to provide related services for children with disabilities.  

  • Individual education plan

    A federally required, individual program of goals and methods for addressing needs of students receiving special education and related services in public schools. They are required under the provisions of federal legislation providing for a free and appropriate education for individuals with disabilities, as amended (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act [IDEA]-PL 104-134, Amended in 1997).…

  • Dental care plan

    The statement of the goals, objectives, and procedures related to the dentist’s care for the patient, based on the medical history, oral examination, and oral radiographs.  

  • Plait

    To braid; to make separate strands of tissue into a ropelike structure (e.g., during tendon repair).  

  • Sylvatic plague

    Bubonic plague that is endemic among wild rodents and their fleas.  

  • Septicemic plague

    Severe bubonic plague; septicemia may precede the formation of buboes.  

  • Hemorrhagic plague

    A severe form of bubonic plague in which there is hemorrhage into the skin.  

  • Olfactory placode

    A placode that first gives rise to the olfactory pit and later to the major portion of the nasal cavity.  

  • Lens placode

    A placode developing in the ectoderm directly overlying the optic vesicle. It forms the lens vesicle, which becomes enclosed in the optic cup and eventually becomes the lens of the eye.
