  • Plexor

    A hammer or other device for striking on the pleximeter in percussion. A network of nerves or of blood or lymphatic vessels. A tool used to trigger tendon reflexes, also known as a patellar hammer.  

  • Idiopathic brachial plexopathy

    A peripheral neuropathy that affects movement and sensation in the shoulder. Idiopathic brachial plexopathy usually results from brachial nerve entrapment by vigorous exercise. It may cause atrophy of the muscles surrounding the shoulder (the “shoulder girdle”).   • Plexopathy

    A peripheral neuropathy. Any disease of a (peripheral) nerve plexus.  

  • Pleximeter

    A device for receiving the blow of the percussion hammer, consisting of a disk that is struck in mediate percussion while being held over the surface of the body.  

  • Pleurotyphoid

    Typhoid fever with pleural involvement.  

  • Pleurothotonos

    A tetanic spasm in which the body is arched to one side. A muscle contraction that causes the body to bend to one side.  

  • Pleuroscopy

    Inspection of the pleural cavity with an endoscope inserted through an incision into the thorax.    

  • Pleurorrhea

    Effusion of fluid into the pleura.  

  • Pleuropericarditis

    Pleuritis accompanied by pericarditis. Pleurisy that occurs in conjunction with pericarditis.  

  • Pleurohepatitis

    Inflammation of the pleura and liver.
