  • Trisulfate

    A chemical compound containing three sulfate, S04, groups.  

  • Tristichia

    The presence of three rows of eyelashes.  

  • Trismoid

    Of the nature of trismus. A type of lockjaw seen in newborn infants, thought to result from pressure on the back of the skull during childbirth.  

  • Trisaccharide

    A carbohydrate that on hydrolysis yields three molecules of simple sugars (monosaccharides).  

  • Triradius

    In classifying fingerprints, the point of convergence of dermal ridges coming from three directions.  

  • Triptan

    A class of medications used to treat cluster and migraine headaches. Members of this class act as agonists at 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) receptors in the brain. Each of them has a generic name that ends in “-triptan,” including frovatriptan, naratriptan, rizatriptan, and sumatriptan.   • Tripoding

    The use of three bases for support (e.g., two legs and a cane, or one leg and two crutches).  

  • Triplopia

    A condition in which three images of the same object are seen.  

  • Triploidy

    In the human, having three sets of chromosomes. The condition in which an individual possesses three complete sets of chromosomes instead of the typical two.  

  • Triple-marker test

    Testing for Down syndrome by assessing maternal serum levels of alpha-fetoprotein, human chorionic gonadotropin, and unconjugated estriol. The test is sometimes used as an alternative to amniocentesis.
