Amyloid plaques

The formation of amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles are thought to contribute to the degradation of the neurons in the brain and to the subsequent symptoms of alzheimer’s disease.


A pathologic lesion of amyloid protein in brains of people with Alzheimer’s disease.


Characteristic waxy deposits of amyloid found in primary amyloidosis, the cause of which is unknown.
