Amino acid requirements

Specific allowances figures for the intake of the essential amino acids are not available. The recommended daily for protein. The assumption is that if the protein consumed is of high quality it will provide the needed amounts of amino acids. Although for most nutrients the Daily Recommended Intake (DRI) is used, figures for protein DRIs have not yet been developed, thus the 1998 RDA is shown. The recommendation shown allows for individual variation in need. For some life-stage groups the database is very small, and so the recommended intake may change as more information about the protein need for these groups is gathered.
