In anatomical terms, the abdomen is partitioned into nine distinct regions. The upper right area is referred to as the right hypochondrium, the upper middle as the epigastrium, and the upper left as the left hypochondrium. The central region housing the umbilicus is known as the umbilical area, flanked by the right and left lumbar areas on either side.
The lowest regions consist of the hypogastrium at the center, bordered by the right and left inguinal areas.
