Smith’s fracture

A fracture of the radius just above the wrist.

A fracture of the lower end of the radius, with anterior displacement of the lower fragment.

A fracture located in the lower part of the radius (one of the two forearm bones) where the fragment below the break is pushed forward, causing a displacement. This results in a deformation of the wrist joint. Unlike a Colles’ fracture (a specific type of wrist fracture), the hand and wrist are shifted from their usual position in a forward direction. This kind of fracture typically occurs due to a fall onto the back of the hand, resulting in the bending of the wrist joint forward and subsequent breakage.

A fracture similar to a Colles’ fracture of the wrist, but with the displacement happening in the opposite direction. It’s also termed a reverse Colles’ fracture.
