An instrument used to empty a cavity such as the bladder or bowel.
A device for sucking fluid out of a cavity. In its simplest form it consists of a hollow rubber bulb that is attached, via a valve system, to a tube inserted into the cavity. Another valve leads to a discharge tube. Evacuators may be used to empty the bladder of unwanted material during such operations as the removal of a calculus.
A device for extracting fluid from a cavity. In its basic form it comprises a hollow flexible bulb attached (using a valve system) to a tube inserted into the cavity. Another valve leads to the discharge tube. One use of an evacuator is to empty the urinary bladder of extraneous material during surgery for removal of calculi or for prostatectomy.
A device for emptying, as the bowels, or for irrigating the bladder and removing calculi.
