Corpus albicans

Scar tissue which replaces the corpus luteum in the ovary.

The residual body of scar tissue that remains in the ovary at the point where a corpus luteum has regressed after its secretory activity has ceased.

A mass of fibrous tissue that replaces the regressing corpus luteum following rupture of the graafian follicle. It forms a white scar that gradually decreases and eventually disappears.
