Intra-arterial

Within an artery.

A type of injection made directly into an artery, such as one that supplies a tumor.

Given into a patient’s artery (for example, via a needle). For some purposes, the injection is given into a vein rather than an artery, and is then “intravenous (IV).” The injection may be made for the administration of medication or as a part of a diagnostic procedure.
