Absence at birth of all or part of an arm or leg up to the elbow or knee.
A congenital condition in which someone has absent or extremely short arms or legs.
Congenital absence or gross shortening (aplasia) of the distal portion of the arms or legs. Sometimes only one of the two bones of the distal arm (radius and ulna) or leg (tibia and fibula) may be affected.
This consists of defects in the distal part of the extremities: for example, the absence of a forearm or hand. Hemimelia is a congenital defect; large numbers of cases resulted from the administration of thalidomide during pregnancy.
