Suction curettage.
Method of induced abortion in which the embryo and placenta are removed by suction applied to the dilated cervix. It is performed only in early pregnancy, up to about the 14th week of gestation. Also called suction curettage.
Evacuation of the uterine contents by means of a curet or catheter attached to a suction apparatus. The procedure is performed before the 12th week of gestation.
