A condition in which one or both testicles fail to drop from inside the abdomen into the scrotum before birth; also called cryptorchidism.
Failure of one or both testicles to descend into the scrotum (the protective pouch that hangs behind the penis) before birth. Known as cryptorchidism, the condition is common in premature infants and also occurs in some full-term babies. In most cases, the testicles descend into the scrotum within the first 3 months of life, and no treatment is required.
