Tooth decay

Dental cavity.

The decalcification and disintegration of the structure of a tooth from plaque and acid-producing food deposits on the teeth. The acids dissolve the hard mineral enamel covering the surface of the teeth, creating a small hole, or cavity, in the enamel.

The process in which acid from plaque and tartar slowly dissolve the hard surfaces of the teeth.
