Subdural hematoma

Hemorrhaging and swelling of the arachnoid torn by a fractured bone of the skull.

Bleeding into the space between the dura mater and arachnoid layer, usually the result of a head injury. Symptoms may be delayed in appearing, but include severe headaches, forgetfulness, disorientation, and confusion. History of a fall, older age, and use of oral anticoagulants all increase the risk for bleeding.

A subdural hematoma refers to the accumulation of blood or a clot that becomes trapped beneath the dura mater, the outermost membrane encasing the brain and spinal cord. This condition frequently exerts pressure on the brain, potentially resulting in neurological impairment.
