Rate

In epidemiology, a numerical statement of the frequency of an event obtained by dividing the number of persons experiencing the event by the total number capable of experiencing the event and multiplying the quotient by a constant number, such as 1000 or 10,000.


The amount or proportion of something compared with something else.


The number of times something happens in a set time.


Incidence or frequency of an event per unit of time (e.g., the heart rate is the number of beats per minute) or per number of possible occurrences (e.g., one illness per 100 people exposed to the illness).


The speed or frequency of occurrence of an event, usually expressed with respect to time or some other known standard.
