Gastrocnemius

The large muscle that forms the calf of the leg.


Superficial muscle in the back of the leg that forms the greater part of the calf.


A muscle that forms the greater part of the calf of the leg. It flexes the knee and foot (so that the toes point downward).


The large double muscle which forms the chief bulk of the calf; and ends below in the tendo calcaneus.


The large muscle of the posterior portion of the lower leg. It is the most superficial of the calf muscles. It plantar flexes the foot and flexes the knee.


Muscle attached to the lower rear surface of the heel and pulls the foot down.
